Opinion: M81 Supremacy

Opinion: M81 Supremacy

Okay, I get it. You’ve been waiting and waiting (me too broh) on us to get the restock in. RÈBÈL is working his ass off to chew up some quality grass and churn out some even higher quality gear. I’ve never actually seen him: I’m pretty sure he’s out on the perimeter though. I caught a glimpse of him running through the woods in an M81 Vakarian the other day. I couldn’t believe it. Just like any RÈBÈL fan, I sought wisdom from the GOAT himself.

His mom said the restock is happening, and boys, we’re getting M81 Woodland CAMO.

1990s DRIP TOO HARD

The 1980s and 1990s represents an era of beautiful tactical equipment. Hell, they made a whole game out of it (Arma Reforger – 10/10). You can’t convince me that this picture right here isn’t the pinnacle of tactical drip throughout American military history:

Look at those majestic mfers. And look at these fellas; complete with the OG scrim.

COMING SOON:

If you’ve been following our socials, then you would know that RÈBÈL is teasing a pre-order. If there’s anything I’ve learned from the OG drop date (you guys crushed it), our inventory is going to move very, very quickly. If you aren’t on top of the game—more specifically, the M81 game—then you just might miss out again.

 What Does it Mean?

With the additional M81 camouflage comes additional versatility for our customers. Out here in the great state of Michigan, Coyote or FDE doesn’t really suit me well unless I’m up at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Even then, we’ve seen M81 in use in modern conflicts in the Middle Eastern Region. It’s applicable to a lot of environments here at home and abroad. Otherwise, M81 or MULTICAM is what would be, in my opinion, best up here by way of environment. You must acquire the M81. I don’t get any advanced heads up or a saved piece of kit because I write these blogs. I’m going to be jockeying for new stuff just like you are. I’m ready to ditch my AR500 armor for an M81 Vakarian setup.

Flat out, ERDL/M81 Woodland Camo is, in my uneducated and half-monkey brained perspective, without fault. It is beyond reproach. It is the most beautiful pattern in the world, and you can’t change my mind. Every Michigander worth his salt has got some old surplus M81 BDU top and accompanying pants in his closet. Why? Because it just works out here. It’s a solid pattern that has been used by the U.S. Military. Trust, I know that isn’t a golden standard (Army digital ACUs come to mind—yuck), but there’s certainly something to be said about how dope m81 is. From the nostalgic enjoyer to the maximum camo boi, you’ll wish you would have picked this up when it drops. Our mom says to ask your mom about borrowing her credit card.

Perfect! I look forward to seeing the M81 woodland gear. I, too, am an old timer. I have some multicam stuff now, but it makes me feel like a poser. We were issued woodland cammies back in the Old Corps. We washed them with this detergent called Whisk. Every once in a while, I walk through a neighborhood and catch the scent of somebody using something that smells similar and it triggers bootcamp memories. The only thing more authentic is kevlar that has been soaked through with sweat for days on end. Woodland camo should have one of those two aromas, usually one then the other.

Got an old surplus M81 coat with liner in my size for 8 bucks at Goodwill outlet bout 2 weeks ago. Good condition too. They were about to throw it away. Insane.

I now live at that Goodwill Outlet 24/7 in the hopes of intercepting any M81, in part for the good deal, and in part to save the Goodwill employees from being condemned to hell for having committed the unforgiveable sin of putting M81 in the trash.

Enlisted right before 9/11, jumped out right before digicamo got issued. We didn’t know how blessed we were, and I still have some M81 stacked in an old footlocker.
